Oil-lubricated rotary screw compressors use lubricant inside the compression chamber to cool and lubricate the compressor element simultaneously, forming a seal that also helps to reduce noise.

Fixed-speed oil-lubricated screw compressors are recommended when a constant compressed air flow is required.
